Infrastructure Decarbonisation
To support our client’s goal of achieving net zero, Aptus were hired to assess the current cooling strategy for Cisco’s critical data centre and UK headquarters. Like many buildings of its age, the current system uses Combined Heat and Power (CHP) for heating and electricity, with cooling provided by an absorption chiller connected to the CHP heating circuits.
Our objective was to identify energy-efficient cooling alternatives that could replace the existing system and align with the net-zero agenda, while ensuring system up-time remains a priority.
Our engineers conducted a feasibility study that explored various options such as free cooling, high-efficiency cooling systems, and heat reclaim systems. We provided project budgets, timelines, and strategies for system replacement, along with recommended next steps to help the client make an informed decision.
